Dear Traveler,
I love the simple pleasure of taking a walk after a long day of guidebook research or tour guiding. Free from any agenda, it just lets me be — truly be — in a great town or city, far away from home.
I did that last week in Luzern, Switzerland. Opening my eyes and ears to take in the everyday scenes around me, I was showered with "this is life" moments: a lover on tip toes for a nicer kiss, flower boxes artfully bedecking a tiny apartment balcony, a teenager patiently rolling a grandmother in a wheelchair through a park, and the way the setting sun backlit the water splashing in a medieval fountain.
