Each spring, as my staff and I distill our annual series of "What's New in Europe" articles from all our guidebook research, I'm impressed by how Europe keeps improving the many ways it shares its amazing heritage.
For 2014, Britain has brought the spiritual "wow" back to Stonehenge. In Rome, bars are embracing tapas-style aperitivos, making pub-crawling a tasty and affordable way to spend an evening on the roam and call it dinner. In France, with this summer marking both the 70th anniversary of D-Day and the centennial of the start of World War I, history buffs will find more in-depth exhibits than ever, and all will be far from quiet on the Western Front. We share our annual round-up of what's new in Europe for 2014 and more in this month's Travel News.
And we're teaching travel with more vigor than ever these days. For three decades, I've been sharing my travel tips and insights on various countries in classroom lectures. Now at our March 22nd Travel Festival, we'll be live-streaming several of these talks — many for the first time ever — so travelers anywhere can enjoy a virtual front-row seat at these information-packed travel classes.
I'll be a busy guy on that day, personally giving freshly-updated talks on Spain, Portugal, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Britain, and Scotland, along with a packing class. And our ace cruiser and Eastern Europe specialist, Cameron Hewitt, will present five talks covering European cruising and the wonders of Eastern Europe from Dubrovnik to Warsaw. Of course, if you are within striking distance of Edmonds, WA you can attend all these classes — plus a dozen more that we're not streaming — in person.
