Explore Atlanta and Create Your Own Ultimate Field Trip School may be out of session this summer but you can still bring your children on fun and educational "field trips" in Atlanta. The High Museum of Art, which features a collection of classic and contemporary pieces, will let visitors play and interact with its Los Trompos (Spinning Tops) exhibit all summer. Forty giant tops will be available to spin and ride inside of. Come to the museum to play, interact with art, have a picnic, or catch an amazing show every first and third Friday. Next, check out the LEGOLAND® Discovery Center Atlanta. Here, your children's imaginations will run wild as they build their own race cars, castles, and even robots. For natural wonder, the Fernbank Museum of Natural History teaches visitors about the development of life on Earth. The museum's centerpiece is its dinosaur exhibit which includes towering skeletons. For outdoor activities, visit the Atlanta Botanical Garden or Zoo Atlanta. Both teach about the natural world as you explore many acres of outdoor exhibits. The Botanical Garden shows off a honey bee hive and lets you get close to Venus flytraps, while the Zoo has 1,400 animals on display and lets visitors become "Keeper for a Day." This exhibit provides a first-hand look at working at the Zoo. If you're looking for excitement, take to the football field at the College Football Hall of Fame & Chick-fil-A Fan Experience. You can try kicking a field goal or get inside the huddle in many high-tech exhibits. For outdoor adventure, try the SkyHike at Stone Mountain Park, the nation's largest family adventure course. Cool off after at Geyser Towers or take in the all new film Rio: the 4-D Experience. Any of these trips would make a fun day out for your family, but doing them all will give you a busy and exciting summer. |
