The European Union has announced new regulations requiring all member states to ensure 100% of intercity trains are wheelchair accessible by December 2025. Key requirements include:
- Level boarding platforms at all stations
- Dedicated wheelchair spaces on all trains
- Accessible restrooms on trains over 2 hours
- Real-time accessibility alerts via app
New Schengen ETIAS Requirement Postponed to 4th Quarter 2026
The ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorization System) requirement for travelers who do not carry a European Schengen Country Passport has been officially postponed to the 4th quarter of 2026.
Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland.
UK Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) Update
Travelers without a UK Passport or Visa must apply for an ETA (Electronic Travel Authorisation) well before travel.
England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland
- Some citizens can apply now
- Others can apply after March 5, 2025
